Curriculum for Pre-Dance > Pre-Dance Checklist
Pre-Dance Checklist | Suggested Homework
As we work with your child, we hope to instill a love of dance that will remain in your child’s heart forever. This checklist will help ensure that your child has the most productive and enjoyable classtime possible.
- Have your child use the bathroom before class. Our staff encourages students to wait unless it is an emergency. (There is a “domino effect” whenever one student leaves the room. This can disrupt valuable classroom time.)
- Label your child’s shoes on the inside.
- Have your child come to class with the proper ballet shoes already on. (If you’re not sure whether your child has the correct ballet shoe, please see our office manager.) Laces should be pulled snug and tucked into the shoe.
- Buy shoe bows or buttons for tap shoes. (Bows are available in the office for $4.00.) Remember, tap shoes should be white.
- Provide your child with a dance bag to bring into the room. Please label the bag with your child’s name.
- Select dance attire that will not be a distraction to your child or other children (sometimes skirts and jewels are distracting). No costumes, jewelry, or toys should be worn or brought to class.
- Please do not enter the classroom or cause a distraction at the observation window. Children actually learn so much better when the window is shut. (The window will be shut every other week beginning in September.)
