Please familiarize yourself with the following guidelines for dress and appearance.

Clothing

Students are required to wear dance clothes to class; while leotards and tights are preferred, jazz pants and tops are acceptable. You may choose the color and style. The only exception is for students in third grade and up that take ballet classes; these girls must wear a leotard and tights without attached skirts or extra clothing. Costumes should not be worn unless there is a special event at the school.

Dance attire may be purchased at Target, Wal-Mart, or Action Dancewear in South Hills Mall.

Hair

All students must wear their hair pulled neatly away from the face. Acceptable styles include: bun, ponytail, or braids.

Ballet Shoes

All ballet shoes must be pink and must have laces neatly tucked away.

Tap and Jazz Shoes

Students age seven and under must have white tap shoes (patented or flat) or white jazz oxfords. These young students must also have shoe bows for their tap shoes, which allows them to slide shoes on and off without having to tie them. For your convenience, you may purchase shoe bows in the office for $4.00.

Students age eight and up may wear black slip-on jazz boots, black Bloch hip hop sneakers, Capezio ½ sole lyrical shoes, suntan Bloch tap shoes.

Specific shoe requirements are found on the back of your introduction letter that was given to you when you registered for class. If you have lost your introduction letter, please stop by the office.

Jewelry

Jewelry should not be worn while in class. Please do not leave jewelry or any other valuables in the dressing room.
