Curriculum for Students Ages 12 to 18
For students that have been dancing for years, now we concentrate on refining their technique and striving for perfection in every dance form. However, it is important to note that we offer beginner-level classes for students in this age group. Just because your 17-year-old child has not taken dance before, doesn’t mean he or she will be in a class with 11-year-olds.
The learning atmosphere is fun and high-energy. Dancers get a taste of performing for an audience, either at our end-of-year recital or by auditioning for our Christmas parades. For students that are involved in gymnastics or cheerleading, dance can enhance their performance in these other activities.
For the 12- to 18-year-old dancer, we offer:
- Ballet
- Tap
- Jazz
- Lyrical
- Hip Hop
- Pointe
The goals of these classes include:
- To enhance flexibility and strength in feet, legs, and back
- To listen to instruction, focus, and problem solve
- To teach social skills and the value of teamwork
- To foster internal motivation and to taste the satisfaction that comes with seeing self-improvement To give students a healthy outlet for stress
